If you took a look at two of the most popular brand of computers, the Mac and the PC, and just look at the hardware of them, you would not see a huge difference. The differences come when you take a look at the outside covers and the operating systems of a Mac and a PC.
PC refers to personal computer and that generally includes any computer using a Windows or Linux operating systems. It is an IBM-compatible computer. The Mac refers to Macintosh and until recently only the Mac OS X could work on a Mac computer. Now it has become possible for Mac users to install a Windows or a Linux operating system onto their laptop or computer. It is not possible for a PC user to install Mac OS X operating system onto their computer. It is actually illegal to do so.
When you look at the design of a Mac and a PC laptop or computer, you will immediately notice some major differences. Both have a built in keyboard and a screen, but the similarities pretty much end there. Macs are made from tougher material than PCs. They are made from aluminum. Macs are usually white, although there are many colors.
A main difference between a PC and a Mac is the price. While a PC can be as low as $400, a Mac’s price can range from $1,000 to $3,000. Macs usually last longer and seem to be more reliable than PCs. Macs seem to be pretty protected from viruses, Trojans, and mal-ware. Although there is some mal-ware, Apple products have been careful about who knows their codes. Windows, on the other hand, has not been so lucky.
If you have used a Mac and a PC, you will immediately notice the differences in software and operation of each. Macs have a dock bar instead of a start menu and task bar. The hard drive structure is also extremely different.
