OS to the OR: Technological Fixes for Operating System Problems

If your operating system crashed recently, there may be some ways to save your system, your computer, or your information from sudden death. Thankfully, current operating systems (OS) often have built-in protection, and the OS will often remain intact if the computer crashes due to an OS bug. With the more modern computer operating systems, the computer can simply be rebooted, and the OS will remain intact and clear itself of a bug.

Serious Complications

However, if firewalls and/or antivirus software are not up-to-date, a more serious virus may be to blame for the crash rather than the OS. Also, if your system or your computer were attacked in any way, it will take some more serious operations to bring them back to life. Another serious case of OS malaise is the blue screen of death, where the computer crashes only to reboot to a blue screen. In these cases, it is best to get your computer to the operating room (OR) stat.

The Computer OR

In the OR, a computer doctor can diagnose your computer’s illness. In some cases, the doc can restore the computer to a point immediately prior to the crash, retaining your computer and your information. In other cases, the computer may be dead upon arrival or may die on the operating table, but the doctor may be able to pull your information from the computer. However, in severe cases, you can lose your OS, computer and information.

In the case of a total computer crash in which everything is lost, it is important to have backups of all of your information. Whether you backup to a disk or a server, retaining a copy of all of your information will ensure you can transfer your old information to a new computer, because you can never know exactly when the blue screen of death will appear.
